2026 Solar Eclipse: An Exceptional Shadow to Remind Us of the Importance of Sun Protection

A campaign inspired by a unique event

On August 12, 2026, the sky will treat us to an extraordinary phenomenon: a total solar eclipse that will be visible from various parts of Spain. As the sun sets, the shadow will cross the country from west to east, and it will also be visible in many other parts of Europe, although only partially. Furthermore, it will be the first total solar eclipse visible from the Iberian Peninsula in more than a century.

For a few moments, the Moon will come between the Sun and the Earth and shield us from its light with a remarkable shadow. Here at Sauleda, we’ve been doing just that for over 125 years: creating technical fabrics that provide shade, protection, and comfort in the Sun.

This parallel is the inspiration behind our campaign for the 2026 solar eclipse.

Shade is also a form of well-being

Shade is often defined as the absence of light. However, for Sauleda, it means much more than that. It is a way to better enjoy outdoor spaces.

A terrace sheltered from the sun becomes a more pleasant place to share a meal. A garden with a shaded area allows you to stay outside longer. An awning helps regulate direct sunlight and helps create cooler environments.

That is why this campaign does not focus solely on the eclipse as an astronomical event. It uses that fleeting shadow to highlight the solutions that protect us every day and improve the way we live in our spaces.

More than 125 years creating sun protection solutions

At Sauleda, we have been manufacturing high-quality technical fabrics for over 125 years. Since our founding, we have worked to meet the real needs of both consumers and professionals in the sun protection industry.

Our fabrics are designed to transform patios, gardens, and other outdoor spaces into sheltered, functional, and comfortable environments.

This century-long experience goes hand in hand with a constant commitment to innovation. Advances in materials, manufacturing processes, and fabric performance allow us to continue moving forward and offer solutions tailored to new ways of enjoying the outdoors.

The Meaning of the Eclipse Campaign

The 2026 solar eclipse will allow us to observe how our surroundings change when the light disappears for a few moments. The colors and our perception of the landscape will be transformed under a shadow that occurs only at very specific moments.

The eclipse will shield us from the sun for a few moments; in Sauleda, we’ve been doing that every day for more than 125 years.

With this initiative, we want to highlight the value of shade as a solution that promotes well-being and allows us to enjoy outdoor spaces more comfortably.
